为别人作嫁衣裳。语本唐.秦韬玉〈贫女〉诗:「苦恨年年压金线,为他人作嫁衣裳。」比喻徒然为他人辛苦。《红楼梦.第九五回》:「见妙玉略有活动,便起身拜了几拜。妙玉叹道:『何必为人作嫁!』」
